As a component part of its Energy, Utilities and Power, Infrastructure and Mining Practices, the Firm offers a wide range of services in the field of environmental law and advises clients on environmental issues that impact on various commercial transactions. The Firm assists its clients in completing their Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes necessary to enhance planning and guide in decision-making for their projects.  In providing this service, the Firm helps the clients in determining adverse environmental impacts of proposed projects that ultimately results in the issuance of the Environmental Compliance Certificate required for various infrastructure, construction, energy, and mining projects. Services offered by the Firm also include advising clients on environmental standards compliance issues and providing assistance and preparing documents required for such purpose, including assistance in complying with environmental policies of multi-lateral institutions such as the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation. The Firm also represents clients in administrative proceedings and hearings required for securing environmental approvals, permits and licenses.


Mr. Roderico V. Puno and Mr. Julito R. Sarmiento head the Firm’s Environment Practice.  The Firm has acted as counsel on various environmental issues for, among others, Aboitiz Power Corporation, SN Aboitiz Power, Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation and First Gas Power Corporation.
