As the aviation industry in the Philippines gains traction, the Firm is experiencing a similar upward thrust in its aviation practice. The Firm continuously interacts with foreign and domestic carriers in dealing with various regulatory matters and in shaping aviation policies.
The Firm represents foreign air carriers in obtaining regulatory approvals for scheduled passenger flights and ad hoc cargo flights from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), including filings with the said offices and appearances before the CAB. The Firm also assists clients in obtaining approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
The Firm has handled a foreign air carrier’s tax and corporate matters, passenger claims and its negotiations with a Philippine air carrier relating to code-sharing arrangements. With regard to companies engaged in aircraft maintenance and ground-handling, the Firm has provided legal assistance in drafting contracts related to their business operations.
The Firm has represented a domestic airline company in setting up its business and in obtaining regulatory approvals, including negotiating various aircraft lease agreements, aircraft maintenance and ground-handling agreements, and similar contracts. The Firm has also represented a creditor bank in its due diligence over a purchase of an aircraft and lease of an aircraft, and has represented various clients in the purchase of aircraft and aircraft engines.
