Family Law

The firm has developed an extensive practice in Family Law owing to its Founding Partner Justice Ricardo C. Puno, a recognized authority on civil law. Justice Puno served as Co-Chairman of the Civil Code Revision Committee which drafted the New Family Code of the Philippines, promulgated under Executive Order No. 209 issued by President Corazon C. Aquino on July 6, 1987. Since the New Family Code came into effect, Justice Puno has been delivering lectures in various prestigious fora such as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the Judicial Philippine Academy of the Supreme Court and the U.P. Law Center, to name a few. He has appeared on several occasions before the Supreme Court en banc to discuss as amicus curiae various complex Family Law issues.

Justice Puno was a co-author of the book "An Outline of Philippine Civil Law (6 Volume) together with Justice Jose B. L. Reyes, has occupied various teaching positions and has been a Bar Reviewer in Civil Law and a Professor of Civil Law, Political Law and Remedial Law.

Since the firm was founded in 1984, he has been actively involved in the firm's Family Law practice and has supervised and trained lawyers of the firm. Atty. Rosella Puno Mapa, who has undergone intense training under the guidance of Justice Puno, heads and supervises the Family Law practice of the firm.
